Stains

I put one foot
In front of the other
Take a deep breath
And walk through life
With a straightened back
And my head in the clouds
I can make it without you
I’m sure, have no doubts

But the blood on my mirror
Reminds me, that day
The day you left
And didn’t come back
I haven’t washed it off
Not yet, I’m to afraid
To see my tears
Through the stains you made

I always thought
You’d save me
Through my darkest days
Hold me when the thunder rolled
Warm me when I’m freezing cold
I always thought
You’d save me
But I’m the one who has to save

The blood on the mirror
Can’t be washed away
It’s stuck on it forever
Like a tattoo there to stay
Like a scar on my soul
When I’m without you
I’m no longer whole
Do you feel that too

I put one foot
In front of the other
Straighten my back
And hold up my head
With a deep breath
And pride next to me
I won’t stop believing
Without you I’m free
